I'm Mary and for some time now I have been studying Islam and the Qur'an. It started first because of all the bashing of the religion due to 'terrorism' and I do not feel it is fair to judge an entire culture and religion based on the acts of a few, by regardless of why it started, as I have been looking more into for knowledge I am becoming attatched to it and unknowingly at the time but more apparent now, living my life by it. It is beautiful and peaceful. I grew up Christian but very heavily Southern as well. I have trouble being humble. I find comfort in the words of the Qur'an but am unsure if I could abide by all that is set forth in it. I am currently engaged to a Muslim man as well. I am confused but my faith in God is strong.

Asalamu Alaykum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu Mary, i grew up christian too and once i read the entire bible i noticed some interesting contradictions. The Jews, the people of the tribe of Judah were very practicing worshippers of God. and the people before the tribe of judah that were not called "Jews" can be described as practicers and worshippers to God. to practice you have to submit to the 10 commandments, no? correct me if i am wrong, i don't intend on lying to you and i never have this intention therefore i am submitting to the will or commandment of God when he says thou shalt not bear false witness. so, the people before the tribe of Judah were submitters to God. The translation of Muslim into english is exactly that, submitter to God's commandments. It is widely accepted in Islam that everyone who has ever lived was born a Muslim and the only difference between a muslim and a jew today is that jews don't recognize Muhammad(sws). the contradiction i was talking about earlier was that throughout the entire old testament, everything is islamic. and throughout the new testament there are lots and lots of Islamic themes that are discussed giving Islamic scholars the right to say that Jesus (Isa) [sws] was a muslim. what exactly Jesus(sws) said, is debatable by historians and history is one of my double majors in college and i partly fell in love with history because of my reversion story. i started with the history of the creation of the apostles'/nicene creed and the reasoning for the council of nicae and then the following history after that. also, the context of what was happening in the areas before and after Jesus(sws)'s life. you will only no longer be confused with prayer and good deeds like reading about mankind and His-Story(: peace and love from boston ma!

Hi there,
I will highly advice you to immediately utter the two testifications of faith to become a Muslim:
No one is God except God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.
I would suggest that you look into the link below:

I also am considering reverting to Islam and would like some advice. Insha allah sister Mary's post and any replies helped her to make the decision to revert to Islam. Would like to know if she reverted and if not what happened. In our world today (COVID19) its much more difficult now we are unable to meet and pray together or have sister events to meet other sisters for inspiration and fellowship. I am in Baltimore and there are no events for sisters and i believe this is important to have these prayer times and fellowship. Its difficult enough trying to revert to a religion that many people will judge you so being around other muslims is so important for the support. Thanks to all and hope everyone is staying safe. salam alekum.
