I've been studying Islam and was told to not say shahada until all doubts holding me back were gone. I do still have doubts and am still researching, but I was facing a situation recently that I was worried about and wanted it to go my way, and quietly prayed that if it did go my way, I would convert. The situation has passed and things went mostly my way, so am I now bound to my word and compelled and expected to do so? If not, should I still go ahead as I've heard some say even if I still have reservations? Thanks.

Salam! So, when I said my shahada I had some doubts. I was like "oh my goodness, what am I doing?" However, I realized something and that was that I believed the two things in which the Shahada states, and that is that there's no God worthy of worship except Allah and that the prophet pbuh is the last and final messenger". The practice of Islam truly comes with time. There's always something new to learn and something to do that brings up closer to Allah. There's a lecture that a friend sent me from Dr. Zakir Naik and Mufti Menk where they spoke about the shahada and the beauty of believing it, and what it means. It might help if you looked up some more about what the shahada is and seeing what you believe. I hope that this answered your question and that this helped. May Allah continue to guide you in your journey of Islam. My email is anonnymiss.traveler@gmail.com, if you have any questions feel free to contact me! Salam

So I should say Shahada with reservations or even doubts? What about the thing I said that I would convert if things went my way?
Where can I find a copy of that vide?

I'm not sure how to truly answer these questions. I try to speak from experience, and kind of what I've learned and I definitely don't want to give you the wrong information. To the doubts and reservations question, do you mind if I ask what you're doubtful about? Like are there some questions that you need answered? I'm not sure about the "If you would convert if things went your way". That's an interesting one and I'm not sure how to respond to that. I'm currently looking for the videos now, but they're on YouTube somewhere. lol

I still have doubts if Islam is the one and only truth or one of many religions that contain truth. Also some questions on why certain things are done and why some rules are there.

What are some of the questions that you have? Maybe I can help answer some. I would say, if you have doubts then seek out your answers. Islam is a religion of knowledge, and the seeking of knowledge. Pursue those questions, and the truth will unfold. I have no doubt about that
